Epístola (IPed 5, 6-11)

Leitura da Epístola de São Pedro Apóstolo .

Caríssimos: Humilhai-vos, debaixo da poderosa mão de Deus, para que ele vos exalte no tempo oportuno. Confiai-lhe todas as vossas preocupações, porque ele tem cuidado de vós. Sede sóbrios e vigiai. Vosso adversário, o demônio, anda ao redor de vós como o leão que ruge, buscando a quem devorar. Resisti-lhe fortes na fé. Vós sabeis que os vossos irmãos, que estão espalhados pelo mundo, sofrem os mesmos padecimentos que vós. O Deus de toda graça, que vos chamou em Cristo à sua eterna glória, depois que tiverdes padecido um pouco, vos aperfeiçoará, vos tornará inabaláveis, vos fortificará.  A ele o poder na eternidade! Amém.

Evangelho (Lc 15,1-10)

Sequência do Santo Evangelho segundo Lucas :

Naquele tempo, aproximavam-se de Jesus os publicanos e os pecadores para ouvi-lo. Os fariseus e os escribas murmuravam: Este homem recebe e come com pessoas de má vida! Então lhes propôs a seguinte parábola:
Quem de vós que, tendo cem ovelhas e perdendo uma delas, não deixa as noventa e nove no deserto e vai em busca da que se perdeu, até encontrá-la? E depois de encontrá-la, a põe nos ombros, cheio de júbilo, e, voltando para casa, reúne os amigos e vizinhos, dizendo-lhes: Regozijai-vos comigo, achei a minha ovelha que se havia perdido. Digo-vos que assim haverá maior júbilo no céu por um só pecador que fizer penitência do que por noventa e nove justos que não necessitam de arrependimento. Ou qual é a mulher que, tendo dez dracmas e perdendo uma delas, não acende a lâmpada, varre a casa e a busca diligentemente, até encontrá-la? E tendo-a encontrado, reúne as amigas e vizinhas, dizendo: Regozijai-vos comigo, achei a dracma que tinha perdido. Digo-vos que haverá júbilo entre os anjos de Deus por um só pecador que se arrependa.

Epistle (I Peter 5: 6-11)

Lesson from the first Epistle of Blessed Peter the Apostle.

Dearly Beloved, Be you humbled under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in the time of visitation casting all your care upon Him, for He hath care of you. Be sober and, watch, because, your adversary the, devil, as, a roaring lion, goeth about seekinq whom he may devour, Whom resist ye, strong in faith knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto the eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will Himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you. To Him be glory and empire for ever and ever, Amen.

Gospel (Luke 15:1-10)

The continuation of the holy Gospel according to Luke. 

At that time, the publicans and sinners drew near unto Jesus to hear Him: and the Pharisees and Scribes murmured, saying: This man receiveth sinners and eateth with them. And He spoke to them this parable, saying: ” What man is there of you that hath a hundred sheep, and if he shall lose one of them, doth he not leave the ninety-nine in the desert, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, lay it upon his shoulders rejoicing and coming home, call together his friends and neighbors, saying to them; Rejoice with me because I have found my sheep that was lost? I say to you that even so there shall be joy in Heaven upon one sinner that doth penance, more than upon ninety-nine just who need no penance. Or what woman having ten groats, if she lose one groat doth not light a candle and sweep the house,and seek diligently until she find it? And when she hath found it, call together her friends and neighbors, saying: Rejoice with me because I have found the groat which I had lost? So I say to you, there shall be joy before the Angels of God upon one sinner doing penance.”
