Oitava de 1ª Classe- Missa Própria
“O Temor de Deus é o fundamento dos outros dons. Defende-nos do pecado, porque nos faz considerar o respeito que devemos a justiça divina e a sua majestade” (Pe. Meschler).
Por motivo das ordenações a estação de hoje celebrava-se na basílica de São Pedro, que é pastor do rebanho de Jesus Cristo. O Espírito Santo depois de ter dado, na vigília de Pentecostes, à Igreja numerosos filhos, vai lhe dar hoje também novos sacerdotes que serão instrumentos da sua graça no mundo. Vai se derramar sobre eles como se derramou outrora sobre os Apóstolos a graça superabundante do Espírito Santo anunciado por Joel.
Já fizemos notar que as missas de sábado das Quatro Têmporas têm sempre cinco lições entre o Intróito e a Epístola e que a 5ª é invariavelmente a relação ao martírio dos três mancebos de Babilônia. A oração da missa inspira-se neste passo da Escritura e pede à Divina Bondade que nos defenda da chama das paixões e dos vícios. As leituras aludem a colheita e à oferenda das primícias, porque as Quatro Têmporas foram instituídas precisamente para obter a benção de Deus para a nova estação que principia. Quando os israelitas entraram na terra da promissão, ofereceram a Deus os primeiros frutos da terra. Havendo entrado na terra em que o Filho de Deus no legou, quer dizer, na Igreja Católica, ofereçamos também por nossa parte ao Senhor todos os frutos que a graça produzir em nós.
LEITURAS/LESSONS
I Leitura (Joel 2, 28-32)
Leitura do profeta Joel.
Eis o que diz o Senhor Deus: Derramarei o meu Espírito sobre todo ser vivo: vossos filhos e vossas filhas profetizarão; vossos anciãos terão sonhos, e vossos jovens terão visões. Naqueles dias, derramarei também o meu Espírito sobre os escravos e as escravas. Farei aparecer prodígios no céu e na terra, sangue, fogo e turbilhões de fumo. O sol converter-se-á em trevas e a lua, em sangue, ao se aproximar o grandioso e temível dia do Senhor. Mas todo o que invocar o nome do Senhor será poupado, porque, sobre o monte Sião e em Jerusalém, haverá um resto, como o Senhor disse, e entre os sobreviventes estarão os que o Senhor tiver chamado.
II Leitura (Lv 23, 9-11; 15-17 e 21)
Leitura do Livro do Levítico.
Naqueles dias, o Senhor disse a Moisés: “Dize aos israelitas o seguinte: quando tiverdes entrado na terra que vos hei de dar, e fizerdes a ceifa, trareis ao sacerdote um molho de espigas como primícias de vossa ceifa. O sacerdote agitará esse molho de espigas diante do Senhor, para que ele vos seja favorável: fará isso no dia seguinte ao sábado. “A partir do dia seguinte ao sábado, desde o dia em que tiverdes trazido o molho para ser agitado, contareis sete semanas completas. Contareis cinqüenta dias até o dia seguinte ao sétimo sábado, e apresentareis ao Senhor uma nova oferta. Trareis de vossa casa dois pães feitos de dois décimos de flor de farinha, cozidos com fermento, para agitá-los como oferta; são as primícias do Senhor. Nesse mesmo dia anunciareis a festa e convocareis uma santa assembléia: não fareis trabalho algum servil. Esta é uma lei perpétua para vossos descendentes, em qualquer lugar onde habitardes.
III Leitura (Dt 26,1-11)
Leitura do Livro do Deuteronômio.
Naqueles dias, disse Moisés aos filhos de Israel: Ouvi Israel, Quando tiveres entrado na terra que o Senhor, teu Deus, te dá em herança, e ali te tiveres estabelecido, tomarás as primícias de todos os frutos do solo, que colheres na terra que te dá o Senhor, teu Deus, e, pondo-as num cesto, irás ao lugar escolhido pelo Senhor, teu Deus, para aí habitar seu nome. Apresentar-te-ás diante do sacerdote, que estiver em serviço naquele momento, e lhe dirás: reconheço hoje, diante do Senhor, meu Deus, que entrei na terra que o Senhor tinha jurado a nossos pais nos dar. O sacerdote, recebendo o cesto de tua mão depô-lo-á diante. do altar do Senhor, teu Deus. Dirás então em presença do Senhor, teu Deus: meu pai era um arameu prestes a morrer, que desceu ao Egito com um punhado de gente para ali viverem como forasteiros, mas tornaram-se ali um povo grande, forte e numeroso. Os egípcios afligiram-nos e oprimiram-nos, impondo-nos uma penosa servidão. Clamamos então ao Senhor, o Deus de nossos pais, e ele ouviu nosso clamor, e viu nossa aflição, nossa miséria e nossa angústia. O Senhor tirou-nos do Egito com sua mão poderosa e o vigor de seu braço, operando prodígios e portentosos milagres. Conduziu-nos a esta região e deu-nos esta terra que mana leite mel. Por isso trago agora as primícias dos frutos do solo que me destes, ó Senhor. Dito isto, deporás o cesto diante do Senhor, teu Deus, prostrando-te em sua presença. Depois, alegrar-te-ás por todos os bens que o Senhor, teu Deus, te tiver dado, a ti e à tua casa, tu e o levita, e o estrangeiro que mora no meio de ti.
IV Leitura (Lv 26, 3-12)
Leitura do Livro de Levítico.
Naqueles dias disse o Senhor a Moisés: Falarás aos filhos de Israel e lhes dirá: Se seguirdes minhas leis e guardardes os meus preceitos e os praticardes, eu vos darei as chuvas nos seus tempos. A terra dará o seu produto e as árvores da terra se carregarão de frutos. A debulha do trigo prolongar-se-á até a vindima, e a vindima até a sementeira; comereis o vosso pão à saciedade, e habitareis em segurança na vossa terra. Darei paz à vossa terra, e vosso sono não será perturbado. Afastarei da terra os animais nocivos, e a espada não passará pela vossa terra. Quando perseguirdes os vossos inimigos, cairão sob vossa espada. Cinco dentre vós perseguirão um cento, e cem dos vossos perseguirão dez mil, e os vossos inimigos cairão sob vossa espada. Eu me voltarei para vós, e vos farei crescer; multiplicar-vos-ei e ratificarei a minha aliança convosco. Comereis as colheitas antigas, bem conservadas, e lançareis fora as velhas, para dar lugar às novas. Porei o meu tabernáculo no meio de vós, e a minha alma não vos rejeitará. V Leitura (Dn 3, 47-51)
Leitura do profeta Daniel.
Naqueles dias: O anjo do Senhor havia descido com Azarias e seus companheiros à fornalha e afastava o fogo. Fez do centro da fogueira como um lugar onde soprasse uma brisa matinal: o fogo nem mesmo os tocava, nem lhes fazia mal algum, nem lhes causava a menor dor. Então os três jovens elevaram suas vozes em uníssono para louvar, glorificar e bendizer a Deus dentro da fornalha, neste cântico:
Epístola (Rm 5, 1-5)
Leitura da Epístola de São Paulo Apóstolo aos Romanos.
Irmãos: Justificados, pois, pela fé temos a paz com Deus, por meio de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo. Por ele é que tivemos acesso a essa graça, na qual estamos firmes, e nos gloriamos na esperança de possuir um dia a glória de Deus. Não só isso, mas nos gloriamos até das tribulações. Pois sabemos que a tribulação produz a paciência, a paciência prova a fidelidade e a fidelidade, comprovada, produz a esperança. E a esperança não engana. Porque o amor de Deus foi derramado em nossos corações pelo Espírito Santo que nos foi dado.
Evangelho (Lc 4, 38-44)

Naquele tempo: Saindo Jesus da sinagoga, entrou na casa de Simão. A sogra de Simão estava com febre alta; e pediram-lhe por ela. Inclinando-se sobre ela, ordenou ele à febre, e a febre deixou-a. Ela levantou-se imediatamente e pôs-se a servi-los. Depois do pôr-do-sol, todos os que tinham enfermos de diversas moléstias lhos traziam. Impondo-lhes a mão, os sarava. De muitos saíam os demônios, aos gritos, dizendo: Tu és o Filho de Deus. Mas ele repreendia-os severamente, não lhes permitindo falar, porque sabiam que ele era o Cristo. Ao amanhecer, ele saiu e retirou-se para um lugar afastado. As multidões o procuravam e foram até onde ele estava e queriam detê-lo, para que não as deixasse. Mas ele disse-lhes: É necessário que eu anuncie a boa nova do Reino de Deus também às outras cidades, pois essa é a minha missão. E andava pregando nas sinagogas da Galiléia.

Thus saith the Lord God: I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Moreover, upon My servants and handmaids in those days I will pour forth My spirit. And I will show wonders in Heaven; and in earth blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and dreadful day of the Lord doth come. II Lesson (Leviticus 23: 9-11, 15-17, 21)

In those days: the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them, When you shall have entered into the land which I will give you, and shall reap your corn, you shall bring sheaves of ears, the first-fruits of your harvest, to the priests, who shall lift up the sheaf before the Lord, the next day after the sabbath, that it may be acceptable for you, and shall sanctify it. You shall count therefore from the morrow after the sabbath, wherein you offered the sheaf of the first-fruits, seven full weeks, even unto the morrow after the seventh week to be expired, that is to say, fifty days; and so you shall offer a new sacrifice to the Lord, out of all your dwellings, two loaves of the first-fruits, of two tenths of flour leavened, which you shall bake for the first-fruits of the Lord. III Lesson (Deuteronomy 26: 1-3, 7-11)

In those days, Moses said to the children of Israel, Hear, O Israel, what I command thee this day. When thou art come into the land which the Lord Thy God will give Thee to possess, and hast conquered it, and dwellest in it, thou shalt take the first of all thy fruits, and put them in a basket, and shalt go to the place which the Lord thy God shall choose, that His name may be invocated there; and thou shalt go to the priest that shall be in those days, and say to him, I profess this day before the Lord thy God, Who heard us, and looked down upon our affliction, and labor, and distress; and brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand, and a stretched-out arm, with great terror, with signs and wonders, and brought us into this place, and gave us this land flowing with milk and honey. And therefore now I offer the first fruits of the land which the Lord hath given me. And thou shalt leave them in the sight of the Lord thy God, adoring the Lord thy God; and thou shalt feast in all the good things which the Lord thy God hath given thee.
IV Lesson (Lev. 26: 3-12)

If you will walk in my precepts, and observe my commandments, and accomplish them, I will give to you rain in its time, and the ground shall bring forth its seedlings, and the trees shall be filled again with fruit. The threshing of the harvest shall last until the vintage, and the vintage shall overtake the sowing. And you shall eat your bread to fullness, and you shall live in your land without fear. I will give peace to your most distant regions. You will sleep, and there will be no one to strike you with terror. I will take away harmful wild beasts, and the sword will not cross your borders. You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall down at the sight of you. Five of yours will pursue a hundred foreigners, and a hundred of you will pursue ten thousand. Your enemies will fall by the sword in your sight. I will look with favor upon you, and I will cause you to increase; you will be multiplied, and I will confirm my covenant with you. V Lesson (Dan. 3: 47-51)
