Festa de 3ª Classe- Missa “Statuit” com Epístola própria
Sua vida foi marcada pela evangelização, pela santidade de São Paulo e também de São João Evangelista. A respeito dele, certa vez, São Paulo escreveu em uma de suas cartas: “A Timóteo, filho caríssimo: graça, misericórdia, paz, da parte de Deus Pai e de Jesus Cristo, Nosso Senhor!” (II Timóteo 1,2).
Nesta carta, vamos percebendo que ele foi fruto de uma evangelização que atingiu não somente a ele, mas também sua família: “Quando me vêm ao pensamento as tuas lágrimas, sinto grande desejo de te ver para me encher de alegria. Confesso a lembrança daquela tua fé tão sincera que foi primeiro a de tua avó Lóide e de tua mãe, Eunice e, não tenho a menor dúvida, habita em ti também”. (II Timóteo 1,4-5) Por isso, São Paulo foi marcado pelo testemunho de São Timóteo, que se deixou influenciar também por São Paulo. Tornou-se, mais tarde, além de um apóstolo, um companheiro de São Paulo em muitas viagens.
Primeiro bispo de Éfeso, foi neste contexto que ele conheceu e foi discípulo de Nosso Senhor seguindo as pegadas do Evangelista João.
Conta-nos a tradição que, no ano de 95, o santo havia sido atingido por pagãos resistentes à Boa Nova do Senhor e, por isso, martirizado. São Timóteo, homem de oração, um apóstolo de entrega total a Jesus Cristo. Viveu a fé em família, mas também propagou a fé para que todos conhecessem Deus que é paz.

Epístola (I Tim 6, 11-16)
Leitura da Epístola de São Paulo Apóstolo a Timóteo.
Caríssimo, caminha na santidade, na piedade, na fé, na caridade, na paciência, na mansidão. Combate o bom combate da fé. Conquista a vida eterna, para a qual foste chamado e fizeste aquela nobre profissão de fé perante muitas testemunhas. Em presença de Deus, que dá a vida a todas as coisas, e de Cristo Jesus, que ante Pôncio Pilatos abertamente testemunhou a verdade, recomendo-te que guardes o mandamento sem mácula, irrepreensível, até a aparição de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, a qual a seu tempo será realizada pelo bem-aventurado e único Soberano, Rei dos reis e Senhor dos senhores, o único que possui a imortalidade e habita em luz inacessível, a quem nenhum homem viu, nem pode ver. A ele, honra e poder eterno! Amém.

Naquele tempo, disse Jesus a seus discípulos essa parábola: O reino dos céus é como um homem que, tendo de viajar, reuniu seus servos e lhes confiou seus bens. A um deu cinco talentos; a outro, dois; e a outro, um, segundo a capacidade de cada um. Depois partiu.Logo em seguida, o que recebeu cinco talentos negociou com eles; fê-los produzir, e ganhou outros cinco.Do mesmo modo, o que recebeu dois, ganhou outros dois. Mas, o que recebeu apenas um, foi cavar a terra e escondeu o dinheiro de seu senhor. Muito tempo depois, o senhor daqueles servos voltou e pediu-lhes contas. O que recebeu cinco talentos, aproximou-se e apresentou outros cinco: – Senhor, disse-lhe, confiaste-me cinco talentos; eis aqui outros cinco que ganhei.’ Disse-lhe seu senhor: – Muito bem, servo bom e fiel; já que foste fiel no pouco, eu te confiarei muito. Vem regozijar-te com teu senhor. O que recebeu dois talentos, adiantou-se também e disse: – Senhor, confiaste-me dois talentos; eis aqui os dois outros que lucrei. Disse-lhe seu senhor: – Muito bem, servo bom e fiel; já que foste fiel no pouco, eu te confiarei muito. Vem regozijar-te com teu senhor.

Epistle (1 Timothy 6: 11-16)

Dearly Beloved, Follow after justice, godliness, faith, charity, patience, mildness. Fight the good fight of faith; lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art called, and hast confessed a good confession before many witnesses. I charge thee before God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who gave testimony under Pontius Pilate, a good confession: that unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: which, in His times, He shall show who is the Blessed and only Might, the King of kings, and Lord of lords: Who alone hath immortality, and inhabiteth light inaccessible: whom to man hath seen, nor can see; to whom be honor and empire everlasting. Amen.

At that time Jesus said to his disciples this parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven it is like a man about to go abroad who summoned his servants and entrusted his property to them. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to a third one, each in proportion to his ability. Then he set out on his journey. The man who had received the five talents promptly went and traded with them and made five more. The man who had received two made two more in the same way. But the man who had received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money. Now a long time afterwards, the master of those servants came back and went through his accounts with them. The man who had received the five talents came forward bringing five more. “Sir,” he said, “you entrusted me with five talents; here are five more that I have made.” His master said to him, “Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you are trustworthy in small things; I will trust you with greater; come and join in your master’s happiness.” Next the man with the two talents came forward. “Sir,” he said, “you entrusted me with two talents; here are two more that I have made.” His master said to him, “Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you are trustworthy in small things; I will trust you with greater; come and join in your master’s happiness.”
