Domingo de 2ª Classe- Missa Própria
Estes quatros domingos têm todos os mesmo intróitos, Gradual, Aleluia, Ofertório e Comunhão, e referem-se a todos igualmente a realeza de Cristo. Os dois milagres referidos no Evangelho de hoje tem ambos a mesma significação. O Primeiro é a cura de um leproso judeu. E Nosso Senhor quer que os príncipes dos sacerdotes constatem oficialmente o prodígio. O segundo é o do Centurião, dum pagão, que humildemente confessa sua indignidade e a sua fé. Todos os povos são convidados pois a tomar parte na herança do reino e no banquete da glória, em que a própria divindade será o pão de nossa alma. Filhos do reino de Deus, renovemos nossa fé na divindade de Cristo e proclamemo-la com atos de virtude e daquela caridade que constitui o grande mandamento e que São Paulo nos recorda na Epístola de hoje. “A graça na fé em Jesus diz Santo Agostinho, opera a caridade”. Que nada nos separe desta caridade, e que ela produza na nossa alma sentimentos de paz e de amor para com todos os homens.

Epístola (Rm 12, 16-21)
Leitura da Epístola de São Paulo aos Romanos.
Irmãos: Não sejais sábios aos vossos próprios olhos. Não pagueis a ninguém o mal com o mal. Aplicai-vos a fazer o bem diante de todos os homens. Se for possível, quanto depender de vós, vivei em paz com todos os homens. Não vos vingueis uns aos outros, caríssimos, mas deixai agir a ira de Deus, porque está escrito: A mim a vingança; a mim exercer a justiça, diz o Senhor (Dt 32,35). Se o teu inimigo tiver fome, dá-lhe de comer; se tiver sede, dá-lhe de beber. Procedendo assim, amontoarás carvões em brasa sobre a sua cabeça (Pr 25,21s). Não te deixes vencer pelo mal, mas triunfa do mal com o bem.
Evangelho (Mt 8, 1-13)

Naquele Tempo: Tendo Jesus descido da montanha, uma grande multidão o seguiu. Eis que um leproso aproximou-se e prostrou-se diante dele, dizendo: Senhor, se queres, podes curar-me. Jesus estendeu a mão, tocou-o e disse: Eu quero, sê curado. No mesmo instante, a lepra desapareceu. Jesus então lhe disse: Vê que não o digas a ninguém. Vai, porém, mostrar-te ao sacerdote e oferece o dom prescrito por Moisés em testemunho de tua cura. Entrou Jesus em Cafarnaum. Um centurião veio a ele e lhe fez esta súplica: Senhor, meu servo está em casa, de cama, paralítico, e sofre muito. Disse-lhe Jesus: Eu irei e o curarei. Respondeu o centurião: Senhor, eu não sou digno de que entreis em minha casa. Dizei uma só palavra e meu servo será curado. Pois eu também sou um subordinado e tenho soldados às minhas ordens. Eu digo a um: Vai, e ele vai; a outro: Vem, e ele vem; e a meu servo: Faze isto, e ele o faz… Ouvindo isto, cheio de admiração, disse Jesus aos presentes: Em verdade vos digo: não encontrei semelhante fé em ninguém de Israel. Por isso, eu vos declaro que multidões virão do Oriente e do Ocidente e se assentarão no Reino dos céus com Abraão, Isaac e Jacó, enquanto os filhos do Reino serão lançados nas trevas exteriores, onde haverá choro e ranger de dentes. Depois, dirigindo-se ao centurião, disse: Vai, seja-te feito conforme a tua fé. Na mesma hora o servo ficou curado.

Epistle (Rom. 12: 16-21)
Lesson from the Epistle of Blessed Paul the Apostle to the Romans.
Brethren, Be not wise in your own conceits. To no man rendering evil for evil: providing good things not only in the sight of God, but also in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as is in you, have peace with all men. but give place unto wrath. Revenge not yourselves, my dearly beloved, but give place unto wrath. For it is written: Revenge is mine: I will repay, saith the Lord. But if thine enemy be hungry, give him to eat if he thirst, give him to drink: for doing this, thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head. Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil by good.
Gospel (Mt 8, 1-13)

At that time, when Jesus was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him: and behold a leper came and adored Him, saying: Lord, if Thou wilt, Thou canst make me clean. And Jesus, stretching forth His hand, touched him, saying: I will. Be thou be made clean. And forthwith his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus saith to him: See, thou tell no man: but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. And when He had entered into Capharnaum, there came to Him a centurion, beseeching Him, and saying: Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, and is grievously tormented. And Jesus saith to him: I will come and heal him. And the centurion making answer said: Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst enter under my roof but only say the word and my servant shall be healed. For I also am a man subject to authority, having under me soldiers and I say to this: Go, and he goeth and to another Come, and he cometh and to my servant: Do this, and he doeth it. And Jesus hearing this marveled, and said to them that followed Him: Amen I say to you, I have not found so great faith in Isræl. And I say to you, that many shall come from east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven: but the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into the exterior darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said to the centurion: Go, as thou hast believed, so be it done to thee. And the servant was healed at the same hour.
