Festa de 3ª Classe- Missa “In virtute”
São Venceslau, duque de Boemia, governou esse país durante o seu período de conversão ao cristianismo. Sua devoção à Eucaristia é mencionada por Santo Afonso em seu livro, “As visitas ao Santíssimo Sacramento “. Venceslau tinha o hábito de plantar e colher com suas próprias mãos o trigo de que os anfitriões seriam alimentados. Ele costumava se levantar, durante a noite, mesmo durante as estações mais frias, para visitar o Santíssimo Sacramento. Sua virtude foi a causa de sua morte, pois despertou o antagonismo de sua mãe e seu irmão mal-intencionado, que o levou a ser assassinado.

Leitura (Sab 10, 10-14)
Leitura do livro da Sabedoria.
O Senhor guiou por caminhos retos o justo que fugia à ira de seu irmão; mostrou-lhe o reino de Deus, e deu-lhe o conhecimento das coisas santas; ajudou-o nos seus trabalhos, e fez frutificar seus esforços; cuidou dele contra ávidos opressores e o fez conquistar riquezas; ela o protegeu contra seus inimigos e o defendeu dos que lhe armavam ciladas; e no duro combate, deu-lhe vitória, a fim de que ele soubesse quanto a piedade é mais forte que tudo. Ela não abandonou o justo vendido, mas preservou-o do pecado. Desceu com ele à prisão, e não o abandonou nas suas cadeias, até que lhe trouxe o cetro do reino e o poder sobre os que o tinham oprimido; revelou-lhe a mentira de seus acusadores, e conferiu-lhe uma glória eterna.

Naquele tempo, disse Jesus a seus discípulos: Não julgueis que vim trazer a paz à terra. Vim trazer não a paz, mas a espada. Eu vim trazer a divisão entre o filho e o pai, entre a filha e a mãe, entre a nora e a sogra, e os inimigos do homem serão as pessoas de sua própria casa. Quem ama seu pai ou sua mãe mais que a mim, não é digno de mim. Quem ama seu filho mais que a mim, não é digno de mim. Quem não toma a sua cruz e não me segue, não é digno de mim. Aquele que tentar salvar a sua vida, perdê-la-á. Aquele que a perder, por minha causa, reencontrá-la-á. Quem vos recebe, a mim recebe. E quem me recebe, recebe aquele que me enviou. Aquele que recebe um profeta, na qualidade de profeta, receberá uma recompensa de profeta. Aquele que recebe um justo, na qualidade de justo, receberá uma recompensa de justo. Todo aquele que der ainda que seja somente um copo de água fresca a um destes pequeninos, porque é meu discípulo, em verdade eu vos digo: não perderá sua recompensa.

Lesson (Wisdom 10: 10-14)
Lesson from the Book of Wisdom.
The Lord conducted the just through the right ways, and showed him the kingdom of God, and gave him the knowledge of the holy things; made him honorable in his labors, and accomplished his labors. In the deceit of them that overreached him, He stood by him, and made him honorable. He kept him safe from his enemies, and defended him from seducers, and gave him a strong conflict, that he might overcome, and know that wisdom is mightier than all. She forsook not the just when he was sold, but delivered him from sinners: she went down with him into the pit, and in bands she left him not, till she brought him the sceptre of the kingdom, and power against those that oppressed him; and showed them to be liars that had accused him: and the Lord our God gave him everlasting glory.

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, “Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law: and a man’s enemies shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than Me, is not worthy of Me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me, is not worthy of Me; and he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth Me, is not worthy of Me. He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for Me, shall find it. He that receiveth you, receiveth Me; and he that receiveth Me, receiveth Him that sent Me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive the reward of a prophet; and he that receiveth a just man in the name of a just man, shall receive the reward of a just man. And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”
