SEXTA-FEIRA DAS TÊMPORAS DE PENTECOSTES
“O dom da piedade imprime-nos na alma a inclinação e facilidade de honrarmos a Deus como Pai e esperarmos nele com amor e confiança de filhos” (Pe. Meschler).
A estação de hoje tinha outrora lugar no santuário dos Doze Apóstolos. A abundância dos frutos da terra, que a Igreja implora no princípio da nova estação, é bem figura da chuva de mercês espirituais que o Espírito Santo derrama durante estes três dias nas almas dos fiéis.
As curas prodigiosas relatadas no Evangelho e nos Atos dos Apóstolos são provas das constantes intervenções de Deus, que não cessa de procurar por todos os meios a salvação daqueles por quem entregou à morte o próprio Filho.

Leitura (Joel 2,13-24 e 26-27)
Leitura do profeta Joel.
Eis o que diz o Senhor Deus: Alegrai-vos, filhos de Sião, e rejubilai no Senhor, vosso Deus, porque ele vos dá as chuvas do outono no tempo oportuno, e faz cair chuvas copiosas sobre vós, as chuvas do outono e da primavera, como dantes. As eiras se encherão de trigo, os lagares transbordarão de vinho e de óleo novo. Comereis abundantemente e vos fartareis, e louvareis o nome do Senhor, vosso Deus, que fez maravilhas em vosso favor; e jamais meu povo será confundido. Sabereis então que estou no meio de Israel, que sou o Senhor, vosso Deus, e que não há outro. E jamais meu povo será confundido.
Evangelho (Lc 5,17-26)

Naquele tempo, estava Jesus ensinando, estando sentados ao seu redor fariseus e doutores da lei, vindos de todas as localidades da Galiléia, da Judéia e de Jerusalém. E o poder do Senhor fazia-o realizar várias curas. Apareceram algumas pessoas trazendo num leito um homem paralítico; e procuravam introduzi-lo na casa e pô-lo diante dele. Mas não achando por onde o introduzir, por causa da multidão, subiram ao telhado e por entre as telhas o arriaram com o leito ao meio da assembléia, diante de Jesus. Vendo a fé que tinham, disse Jesus: Meu amigo, os teus pecados te são perdoados. Então os escribas e os fariseus começaram a pensar e a dizer consigo mesmos: Quem é este homem que profere blasfêmias? Quem pode perdoar pecados senão unicamente Deus? Jesus, porém, penetrando nos seus pensamentos, replicou-lhes: Que pensais nos vossos corações? Que é mais fácil dizer: Perdoados te são os pecados; ou dizer: Levanta-te e anda? Ora, para que saibais que o Filho do Homem tem na terra poder de perdoar pecados (disse ele ao paralítico), eu te ordeno: levanta-te, toma o teu leito e vai para tua casa.
No mesmo instante, levantou-se ele à vista deles, tomou o leito e partiu para casa, glorificando a Deus. Todos ficaram transportados de entusiasmo e glorificavam a Deus; e tomados de temor, diziam: Hoje vimos coisas maravilhosas.

Thus saith the Lord God: O children of Sion, rejoice, and be joyful in the Lord your God; because He hath given you a teacher of justice, and He will make the early and the latter rain to come down to you, as in the beginning: and the floors shall be filled with wheat, and the presses shall overflow with wine and oil. And you shall eat in plenty, and shall be filled; and you shall praise the name of the Lord your God, Who hath done wonders with you: and My people shall not be confounded for ever. And you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: and I am the Lord your God, and there is none besides; and My people shall not be confounded forever; said the Lord almighty.

At that time, it came to pass, on a certain day that Jesus sat teaching; and there were pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by that were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judea, and Jerusalem, and the power of the Lord was to heal them. And behold men brought in a bed a man who had the palsy, and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before Him; and when they could not find by what way they might bring him in, because of the multitude, they went up upon the roof, and let him down through the tiles with his bed into the midst before Jesus. And when He saw their faith, He said, “Man, thy sins are forgiven thee: and the scribes and pharisees began to think, saying, Who is this who speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? And when Jesus knew their thoughts, answering, He saith to them, “What is it you think in your hearts? Which is easier to say? Thy sins are forgiven thee, or to say, Arise and walk? But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins(to the crippled man) I say to thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house.” And immediately rising up before them, he took up the bed on which he lay and he went away to his own house, glorifying God. And all were astonished, and they glorified God; and they were filled with fear, saying, We have seen wonderful things today.
