QUARTA-FEIRA DAS TÊMPORAS DO ADVENTO

Féria de 2ª Classe- Missa Própria

O Evangelho é o da anunciação e a sua primeira palavra missus serve para designar a Missa deste dia, a qual gostavam de assistir os viajantes. Recorda a missão do Arcanjo São Gabriel a Nossa Senhora para lhe anunciar a maternidade divina. “Não era a boca de um homem, mas de um anjo, a que devia anunciar o mistério de tal mensagem. Pela primeira vez é hoje que se ouve: “O Espírito Santo virá sobre ti”. Ouve-se e acredita-se. “Eis aqui, diz Maria, a  escrava do Senhor, faça-se em mim segundo a sua palavra”. Há afinidades muito antigas na liturgia, entre a anunciação do dia 18 de Dezembro, em vez de 25 de Março, por este dia cair muitas vezes na Quaresma. Este primeiro dos mistérios gozosos da Santíssima Virgem adapta-se perfeitamente ao Espírito de alegria que caracteriza o Advento, em que esperamos “o Senhor que está próximo” e que depois de ter vindo na humildade da carne humana para nos salvar, voltará um dia como Rei e cheio de glória para se vingar de seus inimigos e nos libertar para sempre.

LEITURAS/LESSONS

I Leitura  (Is 2, 2-5)

Leitura do livro do Profeta Isaías.

Naquele tempo, disse o profeta Isaías: No fim dos tempos acontecerá que o monte da casa do Senhor [a Igreja]estará colocado à frente das montanhas, e dominará as colinas. Para aí acorrerão todas as gentes, e os povos virão em multidão: Vinde, dirão eles, subamos à montanha do Senhor, à casa do Deus de Jacó: ele nos ensinará seus caminhos, e nós trilharemos as suas veredas. Porque de Sião deve sair a lei, e de Jerusalém, a palavra do Senhor. Ele será o juiz das nações, o governador de muitos povos. De suas espadas forjarão relhas de arados, e de suas lanças, foices. Uma nação não levantará a espada contra outra, e não se arrastarão mais para a guerra. Casa de Jacó, vinde, caminhemos à luz do Senhor, nosso Deus.

II Leitura (Is 7, 10-15)

Leitura do Livro do Profeta Isaías.

Naqueles dias o Senhor disse ainda a Acaz: Pede ao Senhor teu Deus um sinal, seja do fundo da habitação dos mortos, seja lá do alto. Acaz respondeu: De maneira alguma! Não quero pôr o Senhor à prova. Isaías respondeu: Ouvi, casa de Davi: Não vos basta fatigar a paciência dos homens? Pretendeis cansar também o meu Deus? Por isso, o próprio Senhor vos dará um sinal: uma virgem conceberá e dará à luz um filho, e o chamará Deus Conosco. Ele será nutrido com manteiga e mel até que saiba rejeitar o mal e escolher o bem.

Evangelho (Lc 1, 26-38)

Sequência do Santo Evangelho segundo Lucas.

Naquele tempo, o anjo Gabriel foi enviado por Deus a uma cidade da Galiléia, chamada Nazaré, a uma virgem desposada com um homem que se chamava José, da casa de Davi e o nome da virgem era Maria. Entrando, o anjo disse-lhe: Ave, cheia de graça, o Senhor é contigo. Perturbou-se ela com estas palavras e pôs-se a pensar no que significaria semelhante saudação. O anjo disse-lhe: Não temas, Maria, pois encontraste graça diante de Deus. Eis que conceberás e darás à luz um filho, e lhe porás o nome de Jesus. Ele será grande e chamar-se-á Filho do Altíssimo, e o Senhor Deus lhe dará o trono de seu pai Davi; e reinará eternamente na casa de Jacó, e o seu reino não terá fim. Maria perguntou ao anjo: Como se fará isso, pois não conheço homem? Respondeu-lhe o anjo: O Espírito Santo descerá sobre ti, e a força do Altíssimo te envolverá com a sua sombra. Por isso o ente santo que nascer de ti será chamado Filho de Deus. Também Isabel, tua parenta, até ela concebeu um filho na sua velhice; e já está no sexto mês aquela que é tida por estéril, porque a Deus nenhuma coisa é impossível. Então disse Maria: Eis aqui a serva do Senhor. Faça-se em mim segundo a tua palavra. E o anjo afastou-se dela.

I Lesson (Is. 2: 2-5)

Lesson from Isaias the Prophet.

In those days, the prophet Isaias said: In the last days, the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be prepared on the top of mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say: Come and let us go up to the, and to the house of the God of Jacob, and He will teach us His ways, and we will walk in His paths: for the law shall come forth from Sion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And He shall judge the Gentiles, and rebuke many people; and they shall turn their swords into ploughshares and their spears into sickles: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they be exercised any more to war. O house of Jacob, come ye and let us walk in the light of the Lord our God.

II Lesson (Is. 7: 10-15)

Lesson from Isaias the Prophet.

In those days: the Lord spoke to Achaz, saying: Ask thee a sign of the Lord thy God, either unto the depth of hell, or unto the height above. And Achaz said, I will not ask, and I will not tempt the Lord. And he said, Hear ye therefore, O house of David: Is it a small thing for you to be grievous to men, that you are grievous to my God also? Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and His name shall be called Emmanuel. He shall eat butter and honey, that He may know to refuse the evil, and to choose the good.

Gospel (Luke 1, 26-38)

The continuation of the holy Gospel according to Luke.

At that time, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man, whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel, being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women. Who, having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God. Behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call His name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of David His father; and He shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever. And of His kingdom there shall be no end. And Mary said to the angel, How shall this be done, because I know not man? And the angel, answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren: because no word shall be impossible with God. And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done to me according to thy word.
