NATIVIDADE DA SANTÍSSIMA VIRGEM MARIA
Festa de 2ª Classe- Missa Própria
Esta festa, mais antiga no Oriente, introduziu-se provavelmente na liturgia romana durante o século VII. Inocêncio IV deu-lhe Oitava no Concilio de Lião, em 1245. Na última centúria, serviu esta data de 8 de Setembro para fixar nove meses antes, a 8 de Dezembro, a festa da Imaculada Conceição. A Santa Igreja, celebrando a natividade da Santíssima Virgem, canta a aurora da redenção, que despontou com o aparecimento de Maria no mundo. Eva deu à luz a seus filhos na dor, Maria dá à luz o filho de Deus com júbilo. Eva levava consigo as nossas lágrimas, Marai a nossas alegrias. Invoquemos a Virgem a Virgem Santíssima com aquela invocação tão bela da sua ladainha: “Causa de nossa alegria”.

O Senhor me criou, como primícia de suas obras, desde o princípio, antes do começo da terra. Desde a eternidade fui formada, antes de suas obras dos tempos antigos. Ainda não havia abismo quando fui concebida, e ainda as fontes das águas não tinham brotado. Antes que assentados fossem os montes, antes dos outeiros, fui dada à luz; antes que fossem feitos a terra e os campos e os primeiros elementos da poeira do mundo. Quando ele preparava os céus, ali estava eu; quando traçou o horizonte na superfície do abismo, quando firmou as nuvens no alto, quando dominou as fontes do abismo, quando impôs regras ao mar, para que suas águas não transpusessem os limites, quando assentou os fundamentos da terra, junto a ele estava eu como artífice, brincando todo o tempo diante dele, brincando sobre o globo de sua terra, achando as minhas delícias junto aos filhos dos homens. E agora, meus filhos, escutai-me: felizes aqueles que guardam os meus caminhos. Ouvi minha instrução para serdes sábios, não a rejeiteis. Feliz o homem que me ouve e que vela todos os dias à minha porta e guarda os umbrais de minha casa! Pois quem me acha encontra a vida e alcança o favor do Senhor.

Lesson from the Book of Wisdom.
The Lord possessed me in the beginning of His ways, before He made anything, from the beginning. I was set up from eternity, and of old, before the earth was made. The depths were not as yet, and I was already conceived neither had the fountains of waters as yet sprung out; the mountains with their huge bulk had not yet been established: before the hills I was brought forth He had not yet made the earth, nor the rivers, not the poles of the world. When He prepared the heavens, I was there when with a certain law and compass He enclosed the depths; when He established the sky above, and poised the fountains of waters; when He compassed the sea with its bounds, and set a law to the waters that they should not pass their limits; when He balanced the foundations of the earth; I was with Him, forming all things, and was delighted every day, playing before Him at all times, playing in the world: and my delight is to be with the children of men. Now, therefore, ye children, hear me: blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, and that watcheth daily at my gates, and waiteth at the posts of my doors. He that shall find me, shall find life, and shall have salvation from the Lord.
