Jesus chamou uma criancinha, colocou-a no meio deles e disse: Em verdade vos declaro: se não vos transformardes e vos tornardes como criancinhas, não entrareis no Reino dos céus. Aquele que se fizer humilde como esta criança será maior no Reino dos céus. E o que recebe em meu nome a um menino como este, é a mim que recebe.

Naquele tempo: disse Jesus aos seus discípulos esta parábola: Então o Reino dos céus será semelhante a dez virgens, que saíram com suas lâmpadas ao encontro do esposo. Cinco dentre elas eram tolas e cinco, prudentes. Tomando suas lâmpadas, as tolas não levaram óleo consigo. As prudentes, todavia, levaram de reserva vasos de óleo junto com as lâmpadas. Tardando o esposo, cochilaram todas e adormeceram. No meio da noite, porém, ouviu-se um clamor: Eis o esposo, ide-lhe ao encontro. E as virgens levantaram-se todas e prepararam suas lâmpadas. At that time Jesus spoke this parable to His disciples: “Then will the kingdom of heaven be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom and the bride. Five of them were foolish and five wise. But the five foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them, while the wise did take oil in their vessels with the lamps. Then as the bridegroom was long in coming, they all became drowsy and slept. And at midnight a cry arose, ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming, go forth to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ The wise answered, saying, ‘Lest there may not be enough for us and for you, go rather to those who sell it, and buy some for yourselves.’ Now while they were gone to buy it, the bridegroom came; and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Finally there came also the other virgins, who said, ‘Sir, sir, open the door for us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Amen I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

Não se pode esconder uma cidade situada sobre uma montanha nem se acende uma luz para colocá-la debaixo do alqueire, mas sim para colocá-la sobre o candeeiro, a fim de que brilhe a todos os que estão em casa. Assim, brilhe vossa luz diante dos homens, para que vejam as vossas boas obras e glorifiquem vosso Pai que está nos céus. Não julgueis que vim abolir a lei ou os profetas. Não vim para os abolir, mas sim para levá-los à perfeição. Pois em verdade vos digo: passará o céu e a terra, antes que desapareça um jota, um traço da lei. Aquele que violar um destes mandamentos, por menor que seja, e ensinar assim aos homens, será declarado o menor no Reino dos céus. Mas aquele que os guardar e os ensinar será declarado grande no Reino dos céus.

Neither do men light a lamp and put it under the measure, but upon the lampstand, so as to give light to all in the house. Even so let your light shine before men, in order that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Do not think that I have come to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For amen I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle shall be lost from the Law till all things have been accomplished. Therefore whoever does away with one of these least commandments, and so teaches men, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever carries them out and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

O que vos é dito ao ouvido, publicai-o de cima dos telhados. Não temais aqueles que matam o corpo, mas não podem matar a alma; temei antes aquele que pode precipitar a alma e o corpo na geena. Não se vendem dois passarinhos por um asse? No entanto, nenhum cai por terra sem a vontade de vosso Pai. Até os cabelos de vossa cabeça estão todos contados. Não temais, pois! Fear not, therefore; better are you than many sparrows. Every one therefore that shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.

Jesus estendeu a mão, tocou-o e disse: Eu quero, sê curado. No mesmo instante, a lepra desapareceu. Jesus então lhe disse: Vê que não o digas a ninguém. Vai, porém, mostrar-te ao sacerdote e oferece o dom prescrito por Moisés em testemunho de tua cura. Entrou Jesus em Cafarnaum. Um centurião veio a ele e lhe fez esta súplica: Senhor, meu servo está em casa, de cama, paralítico, e sofre muito. Disse-lhe Jesus: Eu irei e o curarei. Respondeu o centurião: Senhor, eu não sou digno de que entreis em minha casa. Dizei uma só palavra e meu servo será curado. Pois eu também sou um subordinado e tenho soldados às minhas ordens. Eu digo a um: Vai, e ele vai; a outro: Vem, e ele vem; e a meu servo: Faze isto, e ele o faz… Ouvindo isto, cheio de admiração, disse Jesus aos presentes: Em verdade vos digo: não encontrei semelhante fé em ninguém de Israel. Por isso, eu vos declaro que multidões virão do Oriente e do Ocidente e se assentarão no Reino dos céus com Abraão, Isaac e Jacó, enquanto os filhos do Reino serão lançados nas trevas exteriores, onde haverá choro e ranger de dentes. Depois, dirigindo-se ao centurião, disse: Vai, seja-te feito conforme a tua fé. Na mesma hora o servo ficou curado.

And Jesus said to him, See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a witness to them. Now when He had entered Capharnaum, there came to Him a centurion who entreated Him, saying, Lord, my servant is lying sick in the house, paralyzed, and is grievously afflicted. Jesus said to him, I will come and cure him. But in answer the centurion said, Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man subject to authority, and have soldiers subject to me; and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it. And when Jesus heard this, He marveled, and said to those who were following Him, Amen I say to you, I have not found such great faith in Israel. And I tell you that many will come from the east and from the west and will feast with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, but the children of the kingdom will be put forth into the darkness outside; there will be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth. Then Jesus said to the centurion, Go your way; as you have believed, so be it done to you. And the servant was healed in that hour.
