At illi, ut vidérunt eum ambulántem supra mare, putavérunt phantásma esse, et exclamavérunt. Omnes enim vidérunt eum, et conturbáti sunt. Et statim locútus est cum eis, et dixit eis: Confídite, ego sum, nolíte timére. Et ascéndit ad illos in navim, et cessávit ventus. Et plus magis intra se stupébant: non enim intellexérunt de pánibus: erat enim cor eórum obcæcátum. Et cum transfretássent, venérunt in terram Genésareth, et applicuérunt. Cumque egréssi essent de navi, contínuo cognovérunt eum: et percurréntes univérsam regiónem illam, coepérunt in grabátis eos, qui se male habébant, circumférre ubi audiébant eum esse. Naquele tempo: À noite, achava-se a barca no meio do lago e ele, a sós, em terra. Vendo-os se fatigarem em remar, sendo-lhes o vento contrário, foi ter com eles pela quarta vigília da noite, andando por cima do mar, e fez como se fosse passar ao lado deles. À vista de Jesus, caminhando sobre o mar, pensaram que fosse um fantasma e gritaram; pois todos o viram e se assustaram. Mas ele logo lhes falou: Tranqüilizai-vos, sou eu; não vos assusteis! E subiu para a barca, junto deles, e o vento cessou. Todos se achavam tomados de um extremo pavor, pois ainda não tinham compreendido o caso dos pães; os seus corações estavam insensíveis. Navegaram para o outro lado e chegaram à região de Genesaré, onde aportaram. Assim que saíram da barca, o povo o reconheceu. Percorrendo toda aquela região, começaram a levar, em leitos, os que padeciam de algum mal, para o lugar onde ouviam dizer que ele se encontrava. Onde quer que ele entrasse, fosse nas aldeias ou nos povoados, ou nas cidades, punham os enfermos nas ruas e pediam-lhe que os deixassem tocar ao menos na orla de suas vestes. E todos os que tocavam em Jesus ficavam sãos.

At that time, when it was late, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and Jesus alone on the land. And seeing His disciples straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking upon the sea, and He would have passed by them. But they, seeing Him walking upon the sea, thought it was a ghost, and cried out. For they all saw Him, and were troubled. Then He immediately spoke to them, and said to them, Take courage; it is I, do not be afraid. And He got into the boat with them, and the wind fell. And they were utterly beside themselves with astonishment, for they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was blinded. And crossing over, they came to the land of Genesareth and moored the boat. And when they had gotten out of the boat, the people at once recognized Him; and they hurried through the whole country, and began to bring the sick on their pallets, wherever they heard He was. And wherever He went, into village or hamlet or town, they laid the sick in the market places, and entreated Him to let them touch but the tassel of His cloak; and as many as touched Him were saved.

Naquele tempo: disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: Tendes ouvido o que foi dito: Amarás o teu próximo e poderás odiar teu inimigo. Eu, porém, vos digo: amai vossos inimigos, fazei bem aos que vos odeiam, orai pelos que vos [maltratam e] perseguem. Deste modo sereis os filhos de vosso Pai do céu, pois ele faz nascer o sol tanto sobre os maus como sobre os bons, e faz chover sobre os justos e sobre os injustos. Se amais somente os que vos amam, que recompensa tereis? Não fazem assim os próprios publicanos? Se saudais apenas vossos irmãos, que fazeis de extraordinário? Não fazem isto também os pagãos? Portanto, sede perfeitos, assim como vosso Pai celeste é perfeito. Guardai-vos de fazer vossas boas obras diante dos homens, para serdes vistos por eles. Do contrário, não tereis recompensa junto de vosso Pai que está no céu. Quando, pois, dás esmola, não toques a trombeta diante de ti, como fazem os hipócritas nas sinagogas e nas ruas, para serem louvados pelos homens. Em verdade eu vos digo: já receberam sua recompensa. Quando deres esmola, que tua mão esquerda não saiba o que fez a direita. Assim, a tua esmola se fará em segredo; e teu Pai, que vê o escondido, recompensar-te-á.

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor, and shall hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who persecute and calumniate you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven, Who makes His sun to rise on the good and the evil, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. For if you love those that love you, what reward shall you have? Do not even the publicans do that? And if you salute you brethren only, what are you doing more than others? Do not even the Gentiles do that? You therefore are to be perfect, even as you heavenly Father is perfect. Take heed not to do your good before men, in order to be seen by them; otherwise you shall have no reward with your Father in heaven. Therefore when you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and streets, in order that they may be honored by men. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your alms may be given in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you.

Respondeu o centurião: Senhor, eu não sou digno de que entreis em minha casa. Dizei uma só palavra e meu servo será curado. Pois eu também sou um subordinado e tenho soldados às minhas ordens. Eu digo a um: Vai, e ele vai; a outro: Vem, e ele vem; e a meu servo: Faze isto, e ele o faz… Ouvindo isto, cheio de admiração, disse Jesus aos presentes: Em verdade vos digo: não encontrei semelhante fé em ninguém de Israel. Por isso, eu vos declaro que multidões virão do Oriente e do Ocidente e se assentarão no Reino dos céus com Abraão, Isaac e Jacó, enquanto os filhos do Reino serão lançados nas trevas exteriores, onde haverá choro e ranger de dentes. Depois, dirigindo-se ao centurião, disse: Vai, seja-te feito conforme a tua fé. Na mesma hora o servo ficou curado.

For I too am a man subject to authority, and have soldiers subject to me; and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it. And when Jesus heard this, He marveled, and said to those who were following Him, Amen I say to you, I have not found such great faith in Israel. And I tell you that many will come from the east and from the west, and will feast with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, but the children of the kingdom will be put forth into the darkness outside; there will be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth. Then Jesus said to the centurion, Go your way; as you have believed, so be it done to you. And the servant was healed in that hour.

Em verdade eu vos digo: já receberam sua recompensa. Quando jejuares, perfuma a tua cabeça e lava o teu rosto. Assim, não parecerá aos homens que jejuas, mas somente a teu Pai que está presente ao oculto; e teu Pai, que vê num lugar oculto, recompensar-te-á. Não ajunteis para vós tesouros na terra, onde a ferrugem e as traças corroem, onde os ladrões furtam e roubam. Ajuntai para vós tesouros no céu, onde não os consomem nem as traças nem a ferrugem, e os ladrões não furtam nem roubam. Porque onde está o teu tesouro, lá também está teu coração.

Amen I say to you, they have received their reward. But you, when you do fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you may not be seen fasting by men, but by your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where rust and moth consume, and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither rust nor moth consumes, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.

Naquele tempo: Havia se reunido uma grande multidão: eram pessoas vindas de várias cidades para junto dele. Ele lhes disse esta parábola: Saiu o semeador a semear a sua semente. E ao semear, parte da semente caiu à beira do caminho; foi pisada, e as aves do céu a comeram. Outra caiu no pedregulho; e, tendo nascido, secou, por falta de umidade. Outra caiu entre os espinhos; cresceram com ela os espinhos, e sufocaram-na. Outra, porém, caiu em terra boa; tendo crescido, produziu fruto cem por um. Dito isto, Jesus acrescentou alteando a voz: Quem tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça! Os seus discípulos perguntaram-lhe a significação desta parábola. Ele respondeu: A vós é concedido conhecer os mistérios do Reino de Deus, mas aos outros se lhes fala por parábolas; de forma que vendo não vejam, e ouvindo não entendam. Eis o que significa esta parábola: a semente é a palavra de Deus. Os que estão à beira do caminho são aqueles que ouvem; mas depois vem o demônio e lhes tira a palavra do coração, para que não creiam nem se salvem. Aqueles que a recebem em solo pedregoso são os ouvintes da palavra de Deus que a acolhem com alegria; mas não têm raiz, porque crêem até certo tempo, e na hora da provação a abandonam. A que caiu entre os espinhos, estes são os que ouvem a palavra, mas prosseguindo o caminho, são sufocados pelos cuidados, riquezas e prazeres da vida, e assim os seus frutos não amadurecem. A que caiu na terra boa são os que ouvem a palavra com coração reto e bom, retêm-na e dão fruto pela perseverança.

At that time, when a very great crowd was gathering together and men from every town were resorting to Jesus. He said in a parable: The sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside and was trodden under foot, and the birds of the air ate it up. And other seed fell upon the rock, and as soon as it had sprung up it withered away, because it had no moisture. And other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. And other seed fell upon good ground, and sprang up and yielded fruit a hundredfold. As He said these things He cried out, He who has ears to hear, let him hear! But His disciples then began to ask Him what this parable meant, He said to them, To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God, but to the rest in parables, that ‘Seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’ Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God. And those by the wayside are they who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved. Now those upon the rock are they who, when they have heard, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, but believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among the thorns, these are they who have heard, and as they go their way are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not ripen. But that upon good ground, these are they who, with a right and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bear fruit in patience.

Hão de escarnecer dele, ultrajá-lo, desprezá-lo; bater-lhe-ão com varas e o farão morrer; e ao terceiro dia ressurgirá. Mas eles nada disto compreendiam, e estas palavras eram-lhes um enigma cujo sentido não podiam entender. Ao aproximar-se Jesus de Jericó, estava um cego sentado à beira do caminho, pedindo esmolas. Ouvindo o ruído da multidão que passava, perguntou o que havia. Responderam-lhe: É Jesus de Nazaré, que passa. Ele então exclamou: Jesus, filho de Davi, tem piedade de mim! Os que vinham na frente repreendiam-no rudemente para que se calasse. Mas ele gritava ainda mais forte: Filho de Davi, tem piedade de mim! Jesus parou e mandou que lho trouxessem. Chegando ele perto, perguntou-lhe: Que queres que te faça? Respondeu ele: Senhor, que eu veja. Jesus lhe disse: Vê! Tua fé te salvou. E imediatamente ficou vendo e seguia a Jesus, glorificando a Deus. Presenciando isto, todo o povo deu glória a Deus.

For He will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and scourged and spit upon; and after they have scourged Him, they will put Him to death; and on the third day He will rise again. And they understood none of these things and this saying was hidden from them, neither did they get to know the things that were being said. Now it came to pass as He drew near to Jericho, that a certain blind man was sitting by the wayside, begging; but hearing a crowd passing by, he inquired what this might be. And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. And he cried out, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! And they who went in front angrily tried to silence him. But he cried out all the louder, Son of David, have mercy on me! Then Jesus stopped and commanded that he should be brought to Him. And when he drew near, He asked him, saying, What would you have Me do for you? And he said, Lord, that I may see. And Jesus said to him, Receive your sight, your faith has saved you. And at once he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people upon seeing it gave praise to God.

R. Glória a Vós Senhor!
Lucas 18:31-43
Naquele tempo: Jesus tomou à parte os Doze e disse-lhes: Eis que subimos a Jerusalém. Tudo o que foi escrito pelos profetas a respeito do Filho do Homem será cumprido. Ele será entregue aos pagãos. Hão de escarnecer dele, ultrajá-lo, desprezá-lo; bater-lhe-ão com varas e o farão morrer; e ao terceiro dia ressurgirá. Mas eles nada disto compreendiam, e estas palavras eram-lhes um enigma cujo sentido não podiam entender. Ao aproximar-se Jesus de Jericó, estava um cego sentado à beira do caminho, pedindo esmolas. Ouvindo o ruído da multidão que passava, perguntou o que havia. Responderam-lhe: É Jesus de Nazaré, que passa. Ele então exclamou: Jesus, filho de Davi, tem piedade de mim! Os que vinham na frente repreendiam-no rudemente para que se calasse. Mas ele gritava ainda mais forte: Filho de Davi, tem piedade de mim! Jesus parou e mandou que lho trouxessem. Chegando ele perto, perguntou-lhe: Que queres que te faça? Respondeu ele: Senhor, que eu veja. Jesus lhe disse: Vê! Tua fé te salvou. E imediatamente ficou vendo e seguia a Jesus, glorificando a Deus. Presenciando isto, todo o povo deu glória a Deus.

Luke 18:31-43
At that time, Jesus taking to Himself the Twelve said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that have been written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. For He will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and scourged and spit upon; and after they have scourged Him, they will put Him to death; and on the third day He will rise again. And they understood none of these things and this saying was hidden from them, neither did they get to know the things that were being said. Now it came to pass as He drew near to Jericho, that a certain blind man was sitting by the wayside, begging; but hearing a crowd passing by, he inquired what this might be. And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. And he cried out, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! And they who went in front angrily tried to silence him. But he cried out all the louder, Son of David, have mercy on me! Then Jesus stopped and commanded that he should be brought to Him. And when he drew near, He asked him, saying, What would you have Me do for you? And he said, Lord, that I may see. And Jesus said to him, Receive your sight, your faith has saved you. And at once he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people upon seeing it gave praise to God.
