Matthaeum 20:17-28
In illo témpore: Ascéndens Iesus Ierosólymam, assúmpsit duódecim discípulos secréto, et ait illis: Ecce, ascéndimus Ierosólymam, et Fílius hóminis tradétur princípibus sacerdótum, et scribis, et condemnábunt eum morte, et tradent eum Géntibus ad illudéndum, et flagellándum, et crucifigéndum, et tértia die resúrget. Tunc accéssit ad eum mater filiórum Zebedaei cum fíliis suis, adórans et petens áliquid ab eo. Qui dixit ei: Quid vis? Ait illi: Dic, ut sédeant hi duo fílii mei, unus ad déxteram tuam et unus ad sinístram in regno tuo. Respóndens autem Iesus, dixit: Nescítis, quid petátis. Potéstis bíbere cálicem, quem ego bibitúrus sum? Dicunt ei: Póssumus. Ait illis: Cálicem quidem meum bibétis: sedére autem ad déxteram meam vel sinístram, non est meum dare vobis, sed quibus parátum est a Patre meo. Et audiéntes decem, indignáti sunt de duóbus frátribus. Iesus autem vocávit eos ad se, et ait: Scitis, quia príncipes géntium dominántur eórum: et qui maióres sunt, potestátem exércent in eos. Non ita erit inter vos: sed quicúmque volúerit inter vos maior fíeri, sit vester miníster: et qui volúerit inter vos primus esse, erit vester servus. Sicut Fílius hóminis non venit ministrári, sed ministráre, et dare ánimam suam, redemptiónem pro multis.

Mateus 20:17-28
Naquele tempo: Subindo para Jerusalém, durante o caminho, Jesus tomou à parte os Doze e disse-lhes: Eis que subimos a Jerusalém, e o Filho do Homem será entregue aos príncipes dos sacerdotes e aos escribas. Eles o condenarão à morte. E o entregarão aos pagãos para ser exposto às suas zombarias, açoitado e crucificado; mas ao terceiro dia ressuscitará. Nisso aproximou-se a mãe dos filhos de Zebedeu com seus filhos e prostrou-se diante de Jesus para lhe fazer uma súplica. Perguntou-lhe ele: Que queres? Ela respondeu: Ordena que estes meus dois filhos se sentem no teu Reino, um à tua direita e outro à tua esquerda. Jesus disse: Não sabeis o que pedis. Podeis vós beber o cálice que eu devo beber? Sim, disseram-lhe. De fato, bebereis meu cálice. Quanto, porém, ao sentar-vos à minha direita ou à minha esquerda, isto não depende de mim vo-lo conceder. Esses lugares cabem àqueles aos quais meu Pai os reservou. Os dez outros, que haviam ouvido tudo, indignaram-se contra os dois irmãos. Jesus, porém, os chamou e lhes disse: Sabeis que os chefes das nações as subjugam, e que os grandes as governam com autoridade. Não seja assim entre vós. Todo aquele que quiser tornar-se grande entre vós, se faça vosso servo. E o que quiser tornar-se entre vós o primeiro, se faça vosso escravo. Assim como o Filho do Homem veio, não para ser servido, mas para servir e dar sua vida em resgate por uma multidão.

Matthew 20:17-28
At that time, as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside by themselves, and said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the Scribes; and they will condemn His to death, and will deliver Him to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified; and on the third day He will rise again. Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Him with her sons; and worshipping, she made a request of Him. He said to her, What do you want? She said to Him, Command that these my two sons may sit, one at Your right hand and one at Your left hand, in Your kingdom. But Jesus answered and said, You do not know what you are asking for. Can you drink of the cup of which I am about to drink? They said to Him, We can. He said to them, Of My cup you shall indeed drink; but as for sitting at My right hand and at My left, that is not Mine to give you, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by My Father. And when the ten heard this, they were indignant at the two brothers. But Jesus called them to Him, and said, You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. Not so is it among you. On the contrary, whoever wishes to become great among shall be your servant; and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; even as the Son the Man has not come to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.
